Mangoes, one of my favorite fruits!!

Hey dolls! Do you love mangoes as much as I do? They are one of my favorite fruits and now that the season is coming back it makes me happy to be able to go out and get me a box of these bad boys. Yes, I bought a whole box of these. Heehee, I really do love mangoes. I bought these delicious and sweet mangoes and while eating them I was looking up the their nutritional benefits, I mean aside of the fact that they are soooo good!! Not that I need a reason to enjoy them anymore then I already do. However, this is some of what I found out after reading a little about mangoes. Keep in mind information is not limited to only this list, this is just what I gathered in my own search.

  • It is said that mangoes will help in lowering Cholesterol (high in vitamin C).
  • High in iron.
  • Help in improving your digestive system.
  • They will boost your immune system (vitamin C and A).
  • Great in clearing up your skin (high in antioxidants).
  • Aide in balancing your insulin levels.
  • Help with eyesight (rich in vitamin A).
  • Support weight loss.

The hard part is getting started.

Hey dolls, happy Sunday! Is it just me or does the weekend seem to pass us by ? It’s like you work all week and look forward to Saturday morning where you can simply  sleep in and enjoy some relaxation. Then, BOOM its Sunday and its back to prepping for the work week. Well I guess we have no other choice but to roll with it. So, today was a beautiful morning in the mid 50’s with clear skies and sun making it the perfect recipe for a run.  Just look at this beautiful trail..Trail

Fitness does it come easy?

Do you find yourself searching through instagram and getting motivated on meal prepping and working out and doing all things fitness related? BUT, then find it difficult and challenging to get stated? Well that is the story of my life. I find that getting started and sticking to a fitness routine is simply the hardest. This honestly is like the hundredth time I have began a workout regimen. I start off motivated and eager to live a healthier lifestyle and then fall off the wagon. Why is it so hard?! It’s a constant battle of choosing healthy over fast/convenient, the gym over Netflix/lounging, pop over water, sweets over fruits/veggies, fried over grilled, need over want, I mean the list can go on and on. The sad part is that many times we are fully aware that the bad choices we are making are not the healthiest. Personally, I know that going for seconds on a bowl of pasta is not healthy, that if I also had a salad or veggies I wouldn’t need the extra carbs from the pasta. Yet, I make pasta and have no veggies insight. This is an example, of the fact that it’s not that I don’t know how to eat healthy, I just choose not to eat healthy.

Need vs Want

Do I need that bag of chips at lunch? I’m pretty sure I don’t but I definitely want it. Need vs Want is asking yourself what food and fuel do you need to give your body so it can perform at its best. Do we simply eat certain foods because we need them? Or is it because we want them? This is yet another struggle for me, because I tend to consume many foods that I want but don’t need as they have absolutely no good fuel for my body. Do you find yourself eating several “want” foods vs “need” foods? Its a work a progress and constant battle.

Its all mental

Somethings I have to always ask myself are, “Am I willing to do what is healthy and right for myself?” “Do I have the will power to stick with it?” “Am I eating because I am hungry or bored?” It’s all mental I tell you!! We eat when we are happy, sad, stressed, mourning, depressed, anxious and emotional. All these factors among others play a role in the way we eat and when we eat. It’s working through the underlaying issues that we are facing. Personally, I at times find myself eating when I am bored. If I am not keeping myself busy I am munching on something and 9 out of 10 its not carrot nor apple. Its simply mind over matter. Choosing what is right/healthy from what we know is wrong or unhealthy.

So what am I going to do?

This morning’s run on that beautiful trail was freeing, relaxing, distressing and simply made me find that self worth within me. Lighting up that fire within that knows better then to allow myself to continue on a road of my body’s destruction. I once again am starting to fuel my body and not just feed my body. I know what I need to do and I have to do. I am a work in progress and thats ok. Today was like a wake-up call that I need to care for myself because no one else is responsible for my health and body but ME! Today’s run is (again) the beginning of a journey to health and self love. A journey that I have traveled in the past but for whatever reason have given up. Its never to late no matter how many times you have started and failed, we just have to keep on moving. I am going to do a little meal prepping and soul searching and move forward. Continue to motivate myself and establish a routine for working out. A routine that is logical and that will allow me to be successful!

This I know is not easy but it’s also not impossible. It’s a lifestyle and not a diet. It’s a learning process that will only get easier as time goes by. I know what to do and I am going to put that in action. Don’t get me wrong I love healthy foods but, I also love junk foods so I know that it will be a challenge but its not something that will beat my want to a healthier lifestyle. Todays run was reviving and I welcome it!

How do you live a healthy lifestyle? What do you do to keep yourself motivated and determined to workout and eat healthy? Feel free to share your thoughts and tips! As always these are my personal thoughts and experiences.

Skincare: Daily night routine

Hey dolls! Sharing my daily night routine. These are the products I use everyday and have been loving so far. My skin is very sensitive so I am always on the search for products that are gentle on the skin but effective in cleansing and moisturizing.

So on that note lets get to it! The products are the OLAY Micropolishing Cleaning Infusion, Fresh Soy face cleaner, Fresh Rose face mask, Clinique Revitalizing moisturizer, it Confidence in cream and the Fresh Sugar lip polish. Now before I even begin to wash my face I put on one of those cute and fluffy headbands that help keep all the hair back.  Then, I wash my face with either the Olay cleanser or the Fresh cleanser. I have been enjoying using both of these products and use them interchangeably. I then move on to the Fresh mask and leave that on my face for 10-15 minutes. After, I wash my face, I pat it dry and use either the Clinique moisturizer or the it Confidence in a cream. These two moisturizers leave my skin feeling amazing so I rotate their use as well. Lastly, I give my lips some love and attention as well so I use the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish followed by some good old school Carmax in original. I have been following this skin routine for a bit over 2 months and have noticed my skin feeling softer, more hydrated and not as tired looking. I can totally see a difference as far as having a natural glow and healthy look. So I will continue with this routine until I come across another product that is just as good as what I am currently using. As I have said, I am always on the search for good facial skin products. So I am never content for too long of a time and honestly I think it’s important to try different products as time and seasons pass because your skin changes and the need for hydration and moisture also changes.

The 411 on the products!!

Olay Micropolishing Cleaning Infusion:

  • When I say this product is amazing I mean it!! This product has crushed ginger and citrus extract the help with hydrating and moisturizing the skin. It has a refreshing scent and conditions the skin as it washes all the impurities on your face. It is soft enough to use on a daily basis yet, strong and effective enough to give you a glowing and radiant healthy looking skin. This retails at about $10.

 Fresh Soy face cleaner:

  • This product is good for all skin types. Its a gel consistency and rich in amino acids and soy protein which help with your skins elasticity. It tones, soothes and softens your skin, leaving a  radiant and healthy end result. It’s literally so fresh you can smell the cucumber and feel the hydration entering your skin. I absolutely love this product. This retails at about $15.

Fresh Rose Face Mask:

  • This face mask guys is life! It is infused with actual rose petals which help with hydrating and toning the skin. Upon putting it on your face it gives a cooling and lightweight feel. Its so easy to apply, you just spread it all over your face and give it 10-15 minutes to work its magic! The end result of this product is a healthy glow with lots of hydration. The size I have is the mini size and it retails for about $25.

Clinique Turnaround overnight/Revitalizing Moisturizer:

  • If you have very dry to combination skin this product is the one for you! This cream  is said to work overnight delivering a energy infused skin the next morning. Its a total nighttime renewal as it nourishes and moisturizes your skin while you sleep. Its great for dullness and uneven textured skin. I still use this because with the cold days that are still amidst I need to make sure my skin is being taken care of. I have noticed a more firm and not so dry feel which is great! This product retails for about $40 for a 1.7 fl.oz. size.

It Confidence in a cream:

  • Anti-aging!!! have I said enough?! No, seriously as time passes well ladies so does the youthfulness of the skin. SO anti-aging is your best friend after your 20’s. Made with collagen, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to name a few are all effective in aiding the look of a healthy and youthful skin. This is great for all skin types, it rejuvenates, quick absorbing, non-irritating and reduces the look of large pores and fine lines. Its just AMAZING!! A full size retails at $48 or travel size for $16 if you want to try it out before investing.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish:

  • This is a gentle brown sugar exfoliant the helps scrub away dead flaky skin from your lips. It conditions and hydrates and smoothes the texture of your lips while exfoliating. This product I use 2-3 times a week and have noticed much softer and smoother lips. I also use Carmax for added moisture after exfoliation. This retails at about $24.

Sunday’s are for impulse purchases.

Hey dolls! Happy Sunday. So in light of it being another beautiful day, I went for a walk and cup of coffee at our local coffee house. Which then turned into visiting one of the small retail shops close to my home and finding these beautiful jewelry cases. They are shaped into macarons, how adorable is that?! I love little dainty things like this so when I saw them I knew I had to purchase them. These will be perfect for storing small earrings or using as decoration on my counter.

Let me tell you it’s sometimes the small things in life that put a smile on my face. These macaron jewelry cases did just that. On that note, enjoy the rest of your Sunday and as always Happy Blogging!

Review: My current body skincare obsession.

Photo: lizblogoflife

Hey dolls, sharing a review on my current body skincare obsessions. This magic duo is keeping my skin moisturized, hydrated and exfoliated. Although, we are in Spring, the weather is still relatively cold here where I live. This cold is causing my skin to fight this constant battle of staying moisturized and hydrated. So after several fails of body creams that did not soothe my skin, I have found these two amazing products that work! These Soap & Glory products are my holy grail right now. They have helped me tremendously with the feeling of dryness and roughness that the winter did to my skin. I can honestly say they are reviving my skin. I normally have combination skin, but this winter my skin was more on the dry feel and I knew I needed to find something that would rehydrate it.

So a little info on these amazing products and why I love them so much!

Soap & Glory – Breakfast Scrub, Smoothie Star

First of all imagine waking up not wanting to get out of your warm and cozy bed. Wanting to hit snooze on the alarm for the 4th time but then weighing your options because you want to shower but not be late to work. This is me everyday. Ever since I began using the body scrubs it has helped me feel awake and sets the tone for the morning. I now look forward to getting out of bed and in the shower with this amazing scrub. I mean after all who doesn’t want a little breakfast in the morning? I use this scrub in my morning or evening showers just about every two days. Its light enough of a scrub that you can use it on a daily base, but for me personally using it every two days is working great. This body scrub is made with oats, sugar and shea and let me tell you this is the perfect recipe for an amazing exfoliation. It has hints of banana, almonds and honey and has a maple sweet scent. Some might say its a bit strong of a smell but I love it! The consistency is gritty but not rough on the skin when being used. It leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated and smooth after every use.  If your looking for a scrub thats not harsh on the skin and leaves a smooth finish then definitely check this product out.

Soap & Glory – The Righteous Butter

OMG let me tell you about just how much I am obsessing over this product!! This body butter is AMAZING, and provides hydration like no other. I use this after EVERY shower without fail. I actually just reorderd this product becuase I need to make sure I have my backup ready :). This body butter is made with shea butter and aloe vera which are both great in moisturizing the skin. The consistency is thick, but once you massage it on to your body it spreads evenly and your skin absorbs it right away. The hydration and moisture it provides leaves your skin feeling soft all day. Its great for all skin types but helps so much for dry skin. As an added bonus it smells AMAZING, not overpowering at all. Can you tell I absolutely love this product?! If you are like me and love body butters that do not leave that oily skin feel, then you NEED this in your life.

So yes, this is what I’m currently using to keep my skin feeling soft, moisturized and hydrated. It’s working great and I have been using it for a while now. If you own any of these products let me know how you feel about them. What type of products do you use for your body’s skincare? I’m always looking to try new products for skincare because as the weather changes so does my skin.  Thank you for visiting my blog and as always this review is my personal opinion. These products were purchased with my money and by me.
